A Narratorio
In the 1920s, Eleonora (1900-1952) - and Francesco (1901-1972) von Mendelssohn were hardly to be missed. She an actress, he a cellist, director and translator, they were celebrated on the great stages of the time. In addition, they inherited a fabulous fortune as teenagers, which seemed to relieve them of all existential worries forever. Their wild parties at Palais Mendelssohn in Berlin-Grunewald or at Schloss Kammer on Lake Attersee in Austria are just as legendary as their numerous affairs with celebrities such as Horowitz, Gründgens, Reinhardt and Toscanini. When the National Socialists came to power, the siblings went into exile in the USA. Robbed of their cultural roots, a long, painful descent followed. - Today hardly anyone remembers them. What went wrong, they ask themselves.
